When we strip away the supernatural elements from this week’s readings, a fairly clear and rather compelling lesson emerges: life is short, and we need to make the most of it by living intentionally and focusing on what truly matters. Vague predictions of the future and commands rooted in unsubstantiated authority don’t serve us; they distract us from what’s important.
Instead of fighting over whose supernatural beliefs are “right,” we should focus on how to live ethically and meaningfully in the here and now. Our limited time is precious, and we owe it to ourselves and others to spend it wisely—on things like compassion, personal growth, and making a positive impact on the world.
Let’s prioritize actions that matter and stop wasting time on arguments over things we can’t prove or control. Life is happening now, and it’s up to us to figure out how to live it well!
